dinner time

well, ben is on a business trip for the third week in a row and i just couldn't muster the energy to make my kids a well-balanced, nutritious meal for dinner tonight. i really can't muster enough energy to do, well... anything. this traveling stuff for work really bites. anyway, lest you think you are a terrible parent because you can't get your kids to eat enough veggies, rest assured... here's what we had for dinner tonight:

milk, ritz crackers and graham crackers.

all the nutrients you could ever want, right? after that we walked down to the chevron on the corner and bought:

oreos, keebler soft batch chocolate chip cookies and pringles.

this all after they had a delicious lunch of:

gogurt, granola bars and spree candies.

here's to a better tomorrow with more green stuff and less dairy, sugar and refined carbs!

just me and the kiddos...

Don't worry we all have those days! I am sure we had days like this when our parents fed us total garbage on occasion and we turned out alright!

that is seriously awesome. i had one of those days today, not with food, but with a disobedient child that i didn't want to deal with anymore, so he spent the majority of the day in his crib! sorry ben's gone so much. hopefully it will let up soon!

Whit--Sounds good to me! But I am far from the expert since last night I don't even think we had dinner....That bites that your hubby has to travel a lot. I think I would go CRAZY if Josh didn't get home promptly at 4:30 every day and I just have one little guy. Here's to hoping Ben doesn't have to travel as much! (Even if he doesn't, though, I say keep serving up those delicious dinners:)

That is hilarious Whit.Whenever Josh is gone at night, which is a few days a week during football and basketball I make Pasta Roni, spaghettios, or canned soup. So I am not much better. They seem to like the easy stuff better than the meals that take time anyway.

That's too bad Ben has to travel so much. I'd go crazy and probably wouldn't make dinner occasionally either. I love the boys in the tub! How precious!

it is serious effort to make meals. i think i reinstate that goal every week. i love that you included spree candy as part of your meal!!

I too am sorry that Ben is gone so much...though I know he hates it and I know that you handle things like a champ! Totally have to have meals like that sometimes. No worries. I think I want to come eat at your house! Keep it up Whit, you're doing awesome!

You crack me up!!

I feel like you deserve nights like this with a traveling spouse. The Oreos will keep you all strong, though--trust me.

hahah whit that is too cute and you are so honest about it that is what i love about the busath family always tell it how it truely is LOL - eddie works the evening shift - so 9 times out of 10 i make a crappy meal - cereal mac and cheese frozen pizza - something along those lines but then i start feeling guilty and make real meals - it is just by 5 who wants to cook not me

I am sorry Ben has to travel so much! I hate it when Reed is gone for work/scouts. Often when he's not around the kids and I just have cereal for dinner. Once I told them- don't tell daddy we had cereal, he thinks it's silly. Yeah, they told him the SECOND he walked in the door!

That's hilarious! I love it. If I know that Mike isn't coming home I don't bother making anything and Morgan eats string cheese and yogurt for dinner. I love the picture too!

That does make me feel good, but that is not a normal day for you. If we really did turn into what we eat, then Ashlyn would be a cracker!
