lest you think your sweet toddler is snoozing away like the little angel you think he is, i would recommend checking on him.... RIGHT NOW! or you might find this:
better yet, i advise us all to invest in video baby monitors. yes my friends, that is none other than desitin...
i didn't take a picture of joel because he was freaking out and beside himself, but, yes, he was covered in the desitin as well... in his hair, on his face, covering his shirt, all up and down his legs, under his fingernails, etc. don't worry, joel is still alive... i didn't strangle him or anything, although i did call ben and tell him he better get home from work soon before i DID. i just put all my rage into scrubbing and cleaning that greasy, thick, nasty stuff. thanks to ben, everything is spic and span again and there's not a stain to be found on any of joel's sheets, blankets or clothes, although ben has some nasty open wounds on his knuckles from all the scrubbing. and most importantly, joel is perfectly fine... he didn't eat it, thankfully, and he seems to be recovering emotionally from witnessing a very angry mom. :)

Oh my gosh I can only imagine the rage that went on at your house! At first I thought it was just baby powder but destin...Man when he wants to make a mess he does it right!!
Oh dear sweet Joel... you'll never know how close you came to certain death.
You're a champ, Whit!!
I know at least one reason why I love Joel. I can just picture him in the act. I am sorry, Ben and Whit, for your troubles, but am grateful for the laugh I just had. Love you guys.
what a little stinker!! this was during nap time i take it?! you'd think that after getting into these types of messes as many times as he has in the past, that he would learn... making a mess= very ANGRY mommy!!
asher has never gotten that far, and never will, as i have put child safety locks on all the drawers and cupboard of his dresser, after i grew tired of him emptying it out EVERY DAY!! and i can hardly open the cupboard one, so good luck to him!!
I guess maybe the only consolation I can offer is that it was Desitin and not poop.
Oh wow! On the bright side Joel is showing his creative side by substituting desitin for finger paint! I don't know what the obsession is, but whenever Morgan sees the tube around she thinks it's the coolest thing ever and it automatically goes in the mouth. Yuck
I bet his hands were nice and smooth. At least you shouldn't have had to deal with any rashes on their arms/legs.
These are the things you never picture your kids doing do you?? Not looking forward to these kind of surprises!! I would be so mad!! Funny to hear these stories though.
sorry whit, but i totally laughed at this!!
My first reaction was disbelief, then horror....boy, that little guy should consider himself lucky. Desitin. Whooo man.
Whit--What a mess!!!!! I guess I only have fun stuff like that to look forward to. Can't wait:)
I think I would have cried...and been extremely angry. Way to go though, not killing Joel. I can testify to everyone that Joel is alive and the room looks perfectly fine because I am here and have witnessed it. Kids...
oh boy, that is amazing. You are lucky to have a man that is willing to scrub his hands sore!
Why the heck are the kids drawn to the Desitin? Baylie did the exact same thing one afternoon when I thought she was safely taking a nap in her crib (although Joel's artwork definitely takes the cake!). That stuff is a PAIN to clean up. But now you can laugh about it right? Well, give it a few more months. . .
so sorry Whit! I can't even imagine. Being a mom can be so much fun. :) love Celeste
Whitney,
I'm so excited I found your blog! Such a sweet family (and mischeivous I see). Those boys are ADORABLE!
I'm so happy for you. I heard from Morgan about your marathon. I just ran one in January so I can relate a bit.
We live in Houston... check out our blog!!! It's so good to see what's going on with you.

Oh man, I can't help but laugh and smile. It's fun to know that other moms have those "wonderful' moments when our kids do those kinds of things. Thanks for posting that! It was fun to read! :)
When Paul and I saw that first picture we thought Joel had been sick! Desitin everywhere is better only because you don't have sick child, but so much worse to clean up!
At least you know he wont be getting any rashes on his face from his pillow right? Man, that kid knows how to go big!
hehehehe! Boys will be boys. David did the same thing to Megan but I was too mad to take pictures. There was 'bag balm' everywhere with a beautiful sprinkling of baby powder. Grrrrr...I feel your pain but I'm sure you can laugh now - maybe!
wow - what crazy times! I read that you just did the SLC marathon on Morgan's blog - way to go!
