last week my kids got the stomach flu.... again. i swear, i'm going to shoot myself if my poor kids (or poor me) have to go through this again... like ever. i think this is like the fourth or fifth time they've had the flu in the last 18 months.
ben left on a business trip to chicago on tuesday night the 12th. after midnight that night, joel, woke me up covered in vomit. the poor thing. he spent all night throwing up over a dozen times. i "slept" on the couch so i could hear him, did about 3 loads of laundry, cleaned the carpet on several different occasions and changed his sheets and clothes countless times throughout the night. kadin slept through all of this, but woke up the next morning at about 7:00 dry-heaving. after kadin woke up, i finally called my aunt and uncle in tears, asking if they could run to the store for me and get some gatorade. kadin didn't throw up until the next night, again at about midnight, but thankfully only once. they kept throwing up and having the runs off and on over the next 4 days. it never ended! what happened to the 24-hour bug?! it was so heart breaking to see them so miserable.
ben finally came back on thursday night. lucky him. he timed his trip perfectly to miss the bulk of the nastiness. we were supposed to leave on friday evening to drive down to newport beach to hang with my family for the week, but ben sent me to this fabulous hotel for the night instead so i could have a break and we could give the kids a little more time to get better. i shopped my little heart out AND, most importantly, i slept in. it was a perfect rejuvenation from the nightmare-ish last 3 days.
but saturday morning, kadin threw up again. he seemed to be fine, so we figured his stomach was just a little queasy still and that he was all better, so we took off for southern california that afternoon... whooops. bad idea. 45 miles away from our destination, he threw up all over himself, his blankets and his car seat and then for added measure he threw up again after we had just finished cleaning everything up. yuck. so... after kadin got better, and then after i got better, then after alexis got better, oh and after my mom got better... we all had a great trip! jillian also got the bug, but it hit on her flight back to utah after she had left us. sorry jill.
i'll post the FUN stuff from our trip in a couple of days...

awww... so sad. so sad for them. so sad for you. again... why am i trying to get pregnant? :)
so sad! that is ONE bad flu bug. The only flu Asher has had, only lasted through one night. That was so nice of Ben to send you to that super nice hotel. anyone who has to go through that by themselves totally deserves that. i would be so sad to have to go through that by myself too. glad everyone is feeling better! And sooo glad that we didn't get it. Probably the only good thing about us not going.
It was so fun to see you. Hope yo u had a fun vacation. Sorry about all the nasty rain.
Sad face! Sick kids are bad news for everyone involved. Sorry Lady!
Whit that is horrible! It is so to have that kind of sickness with the little ones. Seriously is there any way to go through it and not have it all over everything? My kids have been similar - when they got the stomach flu they had runs every other day for about a week. sucks! Sorry your Vaca got messed up!
I feel for you. Dylan had something for THREE weeks straight that made him throw up! He lost so much weight. After too many trips to the ER we got this great medicine that you can give them 15 min before they eat that settles their tummies. That saved us. It really just makes you want to throw up just thinking about it huh! Ben- what a guy! Hope you stay well!
Sad, sad days! Those poor little boys...and their poor mommy. Thank goodness it's run its course. Colin and i are seriously thinking about choosing a Cali school for grad school--i think of you guys out there and know how fun that could be for us, too...we'll see what happens!
yucky flu!!!!! SORRY!
That sounds horrible! It's so terrible when you are running on no sleep, and the things to do just keep piling up. Yuck, I'm sorry!
That is awful. Your poor little boys look so sad in that picture. I think the stomache flu is the WORST. And to have your husband out of town...that just makes it even harder. What a good husband to give you the night off!
That sucks! Kids look so miserable when they're sick. Our neice that stays with us just got Scarlet fever. Scary!
Your story reminds me of the flu that Carson got last year. Ryan left on a business trip to Brazil for 2 weeks. On the day he left Carson started throwing up and did so for 9 days straight. On day 4 of Carson's illness and Ryan being gone, I then got the flu and had it for 3 days. Dallin never got sick! I have never done so much laundry in such a short amount of time! You get the mom of the year award for your love and care! Way to go!
wow, megan... i think you're the mom of the year! your experience is definitely worse than mine! :)
oh so fun. now i can say i've thrown up on a plane though. a milestone!
Oh man....that is no fun! Everyone has been sick lately. I hope you guys all feel better!
